Naval Historical Museum

The Navy was as impressive and prominent an aspect of Venetian culture in the middle ages and onward as it was in ancient Athens. The Arsenale is the factory in which the Venetian navy is believed to have produced ships so rapidly as to rival Henry Ford's famous manufacture of cars on the assembly line! The Arsenale is closed to the general public, but the Naval History Museum is nearby to introduce visitors to the rich naval history of Venice.
