One of the best known art collectory of the twentieth century, Peggy Guggenheim first brought her collection to Venice in 1948 for the Venice Biennale. During her "stay", she bought the palace in which the museum now resides, and lived there for thirty years. THe Venice Guggenheim exhibits modernist work the the twentieth century, including paintings by Picasso, Duchamp, Mondrian and Pollock.
