Trevi Fountain

At the end of one of Rome’s ancient aqueducts now stands the Trevi Fountain, or Fontana di Trevi. Completed in 1762 this is one of the most spectacular fountains you will ever see. Here Neptune, the god of the sea, is depicted riding a chariot in the form of a large shell. The chariot is pulled by two horses, one calm, the other temperamental, representing the changes in the sea. The water below represents the sea, and legend has it that the tossing of a coin over your shoulder into the water will bring you back to Rome one day.
