Piazza di Spagna

The Piazza di Spagna, at the base of the Spanish steps is one of the most popular meeting places in all of Rome. This massive staircase, in three major sections, connects the piazza below with the Trinita dei Monti church above. This is a great place to sit and enjoy the afternoon sun while looking over the busy streets of Rome and the Vatican City below. Why are they called the Spanish steps? Because near the base is the Spanish embassy to the Holy See.
