Pantheon

There are many historic sites worth visiting when in Rome, and the Pantheon is certainly on this list. The Pantheon is one of the best preserved examples of Roman architecture. Though the exact date of completion is unknown it is believed to date back to around 126 AD. The dome, or rotunda is 142 feet high, exactly matching it’s diameter. The opening in the center of the dome, or oculus is has a diameter of 27 feet, and provided the only light source at the time of construction.
