La Maddalena Islands

For a great afternoon excursion from the Costa Smeralda area you can take a short drive up Sardinia’s northeastern coast to the port city of Palau. From Palau catch the ferry, which is only about a fifteen minute ride, to La Maddalena. La Maddalena is the largest of the Maddalena Islands. Here you will find a more rustic and traditional city of true Italian style. Small café’s and gelatorias line the streets. This is truly a great afternoon activity.
