One hundred years ago, the grounds of Hotel Cala di Volpe might have been occupied by simple housing for laborers, namely fishermen. Around the middle of the twentieth century, however, the European working class was radically diminished, if not annihilated, by post-war commerce. It was in the fifties and sixties that tourism became one of Europe's biggest sources of income.
